However, the port is located on Dodge Island, accessible via the Port Boulevard Bridge — and traffic on embarkation days can be significant.
Each terminal has its own accessibility entrance and check-in process. Your cruise line will provide specific terminal information in your booking documents. Share this with your transport provider in advance so they can plan the correct drop-off point.
What Cruise Lines Provide — and What They Don't
Most major cruise lines (Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, MSC, Celebrity) offer wheelchair assistance inside the terminal and on the ship. What they do not provide is ground transportation to the port.
Shared shuttle services are available from some hotels, but these are not always equipped with ramps or securement systems, and they operate on fixed schedules that may not align with your embarkation window.

Timing Your PortMiami Pickup
Embarkation: Most cruise lines open terminals between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. We recommend arriving at the port no earlier than your assigned boarding time. Plan your transport pickup to arrive at the terminal 15–20 minutes before your boarding window opens.
Disembarkation: Self-assist disembarkation typically begins around 7:30–8:00 AM. Wheelchair-assisted disembarkation is usually scheduled later, between 9:00–10:30 AM. Confirm your disembarkation time with the ship's guest services the night before and share it with your driver.
